ITA - Un racconto intimo che entra nel cuore del laboratorio Elaia, dove il tempo è scandito dal ritmo delle mani e dall’ascolto della materia. Il docufilm documenta la nascita di un handpan, seguendo un processo che si sviluppa nell’arco di diverse settimane. Dalla lastra di metallo grezzo fino alla definizione finale del suono, ogni fase è guidata da gesti ripetuti, pazienti, essenziali. Il metallo viene modellato, accordato e riascoltato continuamente, in un dialogo costante tra tecnica e sensibilità. L’accordatura non è solo precisione, ma ricerca di equilibrio, coerenza e identità sonora. All’interno del laboratorio non esistono automazioni o produzione in serie, ma una pratica fondata su quella che gli artigiani definiscono “intelligenza artigianale”: un sapere costruito nel tempo attraverso esperienza, errore e intuizione. Il film restituisce questa dimensione lenta e organica, dove ogni strumento nasce come un processo unico che porta con sé il segno delle mani che lo hanno plasmato.

The docufilm follows the creation of a handpan, tracing a process that unfolds over several weeks. From raw metal to the final definition of sound, each phase is guided by repeated, patient, essential gestures. The metal is shaped, tuned, and continuously reworked in a constant dialogue between technique and sensitivity. Tuning is not only precision, but a search for balance, coherence, and sonic identity. Inside the workshop there are no automatisms or mass production, but a practice rooted in what the artisans call “artisanal intelligence”: a knowledge built over time through experience, mistakes, and intuition. The film conveys this slow, organic dimension, where each instrument is born as a unique process that bears the mark of the hands that shaped it.
